Americas Semper Safe Haven (ASSH) was founded by CPL Mierez Amber with a singular, deeply personal mission: to provide dedicated housing exclusively for veterans, rooted in her own lived experience as a veteran.
Understanding the unique struggles of the military community, CPL Mierez took a "boots on the ground" approach, actively visiting shelters to connect directly with those in need and provide real, tangible resources. However, during these visits, an unexpected and overwhelming shift occurred. Women survivors and their children began flocking to her. They saw a woman who looked like them, who understood trauma, and who possessed the actual resources to change their lives.
As the request for help escalated, ASFVH/ ASSH group homes began growing faster than anyone could have anticipated. It became clear that the need for safe housing, structured support, and genuine community extended far beyond our initial scope.
To meet this overwhelming demand and ensure no survivor or veteran was turned away, ASSH was formed as our dedicated non-profit branch. ASSH implements the same pillars of structure, empathy, safety, and community that define ASFVH, expanding our reach to provide a lifeline, a home, and a path forward for both veterans and women survivors with their children.
Respectfully,
– Amber
